There’s a lot to do when moving out of your leased home…or anywhere, really. It requires packing, cleaning, organising and so much more! Doing all of these tasks can be stressful and time-consuming. Unfortunately, doing them can also be a necessity. Creating and following a to-do list can help alleviate some of the stress and make it easier to complete your move-related tasks. Services, like bond cleaners and movers, can make this even easier. You just need to know what to do and when to do it. Below are a few things you should do before moving house.
If you live in a leased home, you will need homeowner’s insurance. However, this insurance will need to be cancelled before you move out of that home. Call your insurance company (preferably your agent) and cancel the policy before the move. If you don’t, the policy will continue until it lapses.
Discontinue Your Utility Services
This task should actually be one of the last on your list. However, it’s an important one that many people forget to do. Before leaving, notify the utility companies about the move and discontinue all of your services. This includes:- The gas and electricity
- Rubbish collection
- Telephone and internet
- Magazine and newspaper subscriptions
- Cleaning and any other services
